The Kidnap

It is one thing to grow in the household of Faith and hear of the great and mighty signs and wonders

that accompany a true believer’s life; it is another thing to have a real life experience of what is being preached.

This could be assumed as the thoughts of Mr. F.E., a young student of Obafemi Awolowo University, after

escaping a death toll of a kidnapping event. Mr. F.E. had stated that even though he has been going to Church

and had heard people share testimony on different occasions about God's safety, he had never imagined him

being kidnapped or experiencing a real-life Miracle of being delivered from the hands of death.

A moment with Mr. F.E.

Just like every other faithful day, I started the day getting myself set for school, as we were at that time writing

our second-semester exam. I had some urgent needs that day; one of which was a laptop because I needed it for

my exam but I did not have a personal one.

The plan was to reach out to friends or my elder brother in order to get any of their own to use for the exam.

My train of thought was soon disrupted as I received an impromptu message that informed me that our exam

for the day would be held an hour earlier than scheduled due to an electricity issue. I was left with no choice

but to leave home without a laptop, considering that I didn't have time on my side again, and I could not reach

my people. I left home, dropping my phone since it was an exam, there was no point going along with my phone

cause there definitely wouldn't be a time to operate the phone till after exams.

The Kidnapping

Leaving my house around past 3:00 PM, for an exam scheduled for 3:30 instead of the initial time of 4:00 PM, I

knew I was extremely late. I just wanted to do my best and get to school as fast as possible. On my arrival at the

juncture where I was supposed to board a bus going inside the campus, I realized there was no bus on sight,

except for an empty bus, which I was reluctant to board because of the time. I was later persuaded to board the

bus, with the driver convincing me that they would take off immediately. But just like every other typical

commercial driver, after joining the driver in the front seat, I was skillfully delayed, as the driver still started to

make some attempts to get more passengers, until I started complaining. He soon got furious at my complaint,

lamenting that it was not possible to carry me alone to my destination. All of these acts did not get me suspicious

of being the only one inside the bus. After our back and forth, he finally decided to move with me still being the

only passenger. The driver closed the back seat door. I did not give much attention to that, as campus buses are

always closed when in transit inside campus. So I had presumed he just wanted to keep going without stopping.

My presumption soon became replaced with a heavy, scared heart with a shaking mind. As I saw 2 hefty men in

the passenger seat, I had no idea where they came from as they moved to the immediate seat before the driver's

seat. I tried to maintain my composure, which I soon lost after these guys held my hands together from the back,

making it impossible to move, and then I knew I was in trouble. I tried shouting for help, but to no avail; no one

was hearing me. The driver realizing I was trying to call the attention of people to the moving bus, he pressed

down my seat in such a way that no one would realize there was somebody in the front seat. While all of this

was going on, the men had been placing different red charms and chants on my head, which were appearing to

be abortive, as I was still very active and struggling to be freed. Realizing what was happening that their charms

were not working on me, a gun was brought out and pointed at me, then I had thought that moment was the

end of me. The driver then threatened me, giving me a warning, asking me to stop whatever I was doing that

was not allowing their stunt to work. In a fearful manner, I promised them I wasn’t doing anything, and they

should please just let me go. Before I knew what was happening, a white handkerchief was pressed hard on

my face, and that was the last thing I remembered.

The One with The Fire Head

I woke up to find myself kneeling but unbonded in the midst of other people who were bonded and made to

kneel down. I could not place a face to anybody, as my sight and vision were not clear yet, although I was

hearing voices in my native language, Yoruba’. I soon figured out that I was transported to the land of Ikire

all the way from Ile-Ife. Being a son of the land, I could easily identify my native land accent when I hear

people speaking it. A female voice requested that they bring me into the inner court, where I assumed a sacrifice

was going to take place. My assumption was soon replaced with a ray of hope, as I heard the female voice

affirming that I could not be used, as there is fire on this one head. All of this conversation was happening in

Yoruba language.

“A o le lori omo eleyi ooo, Ina wa lori eleyi ooo, e da pada sibiti eti gbe wa ni oooo”

“Bi e se gbe wa, lese ma gbe lo ooo, ibi ti o n lo le de ma dapada si”

Interpreted as,

“We can’t use this one's head, there is fire on his head, and you have to return him to where you picked him from,

the same way you brought him here”

Before I knew what was happening, after what looked like an argument, another handkerchief was pressed

against my face, resulting in me passing out again. By the time I woke up, I found myself covered in dirt like

a madman by the side of the pedestrian bridge of my school. I sat there for a long while trying to process what

was happening and making attempts to talk to people, but no one was responding. Luckily for me, I saw a

familiar face whom I identified as one of my brother's friends. I walked up to him, confused, and I could not

really bring myself to make sense of what he was saying, as he was saying they’d been looking for me, why

was I like this? Why did I miss my exams? It took him a while to realize that I was not my normal self at that

moment, not until then he call my brother and inform him that it seemed as if I had entered the wrong bus and

they'd done something to me.

The God That Answers Before You Call

In the Book of Isaiah 65:24, God made it known to us in His Word that before we call, He will answer, and

while we are yet speaking, He will hear. This could be seen in the life of Mr. F.E., who was a living testimony

of God's Word. Mr. F.E. had not even had the chance or mind to pray, as he was overwhelmed with fear and the

possibility of what’s the next thing coming for him. In the first moment of his discovering himself in a place

which I would love to describe as the dungeon’s house, Mr. F.E. said his first thought was to God, asking if

that was how he would die just like that.

This takes me back to the Book of Proverbs 24:10. If you faint on a day of adversity, your strength is small.

I believe one thing that held and saw Mr. F.E. through the evil situation is his relationship with God and God’s

Grace and Mercy. For one who does not have a solid relationship with God, it is very easy to get lost in the

whirlwind of life without deliverance. The phrase, “Pray so that you will not pray” has always been a popular

one to my hearing. This shows that a believer’s prayer life and relationship with God goes a long way, going

ahead of us to save us and redeem our days because the Bible says “Redeem the time because the days are evil”

- Ephesians 5:16.

The Charge

The best way to redeem your time and days is to maintain an intimate relationship with God. Just like

Mr. E.F., the people of the world could see the fire he had built in the place of his altar with God burning

fiercely on his head, so he could not be touched.

Although he was weakened and overwhelmed in the days of his adversity, his prayer life and fellowship with

God have gone ahead of him to redeem him and set him aside. The Bible has confirmed that the days are full

of evil. There will always be adversaries, but the Lord will carry and deliver his own people because He has

made us - Isaiah 46:4.

Renew your relationship with God today and let Him bear your burden, let Him carry you and deliver you and

lead you through living this life the way He wants you to live it.

It is possible!

With God, all things are possible!

God still delivers

God still saves

God is God, and He will always be God

The same yesterday, today and forever!

Surrender your Life to His Son, Jesus Christ our Saviour, today!

Say these Words with your mouth:

Lord Jesus, I trust you to help me always. Be my guide throughout life. I believe in my heart that you died for my sins and God raised you from the dead on the third day for my freedom from evil. Today, I confess that you are my Lord and Saviour. Save me in every of my journey, be with me always and always guide me in the right path, in Jesus Name, Amen!

Congratulations!!! Now that you are born again, find a Bible believing Church to learn His ways and serve Him

wholeheartedly and He will prove Himself to you over and over again.
