The theme of the 2016 tournament is 'celebrating the art of football' and the design hopes to encapture both the artistic theme and the identity of the host nation. Designed by Brandia Central, the Portuguese agency that designed the Euro 2012 logo, it is focused around the Henri Delaunay Cup with a strong red white and blue colour scheme, staying strong to French traditions. National President of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, Dr Chibuzor Asumogba has said that the 73-day old strike embarked on by his union will be called off in two weeks time. This was even as the President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Dr Nasir Isa Fagge told Vanguard that the 10-day-old varsity lecturers strike would continue. Asumogba, in an interview with Vanguard after the meeting with the Joint National Assembly Committees on Education, indications emerged that the Federal Government would accede to their demands. He said: "Our meeting with the Senate Committee on Education was successful. There was an agreement to meet our demands in the next two weeks as the request will be presented to President Goodluck Jonathan for his approval." Four lower league clubs have been banned in Nigeria for alleged corruption, after two decisive domestic games ended 79-0 and 67-0 respectively. Plateau United Feeders and Police Machine FC were both overwhelming victors in the last round of league fixtures, as the promotion rivals competed to achieve the higher goal difference needed for securing a place in the Nationwide League Division. According to BBC Sport, Feeders scored 72 of their goals in the second half, while Police Machine netted 61 times after the break - once it had become clear that the clubs could only be separated by their goal differences over the course of the entire season. A soccer referee was beheaded and his head displayed atop a wooden stake at midfield after a match erupted in violence in Brazil. The bloody brouhaha began when the match's referee, Otávio Jordan da Silva de Catanhede, became embroiled in an argument with player Linda dos Santos Abreu over a disputed call during a game in the town of Pius XII. The argument reportedly ended with Jordan ejecting Abreu. Following the player's ejection from the game, Abreu and Jordan began to fight. During which, Jordan produced a small knife and stabbed Abreu, 31, who reportedly died of his injuries en route to a local hospital. Friends and family of the deceased subsequently rushed the field, tied up Jordan, 20, fatally stoned him, quartered his body, and then, according to the Associated Press, which cited local media accounts of the murder, staked the referee's head at midfield of the soccer pitch.
